Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) OCC is responsible for the following services:

  • Education and schools
  • Fire Services
  • Highways and rights of way
  • Libraries and recreation
  • Social and youth services
  • Public transport
  • Trading standards
  • Recycling centres

OCC is based in County Hall in Oxford. Its website can be accessed at www.oxfordshire.gov.uk. One particularly useful online service is reporting of potholes via its Fix My Street application.
Continuing pressure on OCC finances have led it to propose delegation of certain highways responsibilities such as grass cutting to Parishes under its Oxfordshire Together scheme. Tetsworth Parish Council has so far declined to take on such responsibilities.

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) SODC is responsible for the following services:

  • Council Tax and benefits
  • Electoral services
  • Housing services
  • Sport and leisure
  • Waste collection (see below)
  • Street cleaning
  • Planning Authority – See also the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2035.

SODC is based in Abingdon. Its website can be accessed at www.southoxon.gov.uk. The website includes comprehensive coverage of planning issues, and current applications and decisions can be accessed on the site.  Its address is:​
